The Itinerary

10 days. Bergen to Bergen. Fjords, railways, mountain roads, coastal cruises, and midnight sun. One unforgettable Norwegian adventure.

Day 1
🛬 ARRIVAL IN BERGEN
✈️ Bergen BGO🏨 Check-in🥂 Welcome Meeting
Bergen Bryggen harbor

Arrive at Bergen Flesland Airport and make your way to the city centre. Bergen, Norway's second city, is framed by seven mountains and a UNESCO-listed harbor district called Bryggen, with its iconic colorful wooden houses. Settle into the hotel, freshen up, then join the welcome drink and information meeting with your guide and fellow travelers. The evening is yours to explore Bergen's charming harbor at leisure.

🤓 Did You Know? Bergen was Norway's capital and the largest city in the country for several centuries. It's now considered the "Gateway to the Fjords", and it rains here around 240 days a year, earning it the title of one of Europe's wettest cities!
Day 2
🚂 FLÅMSBANA RAILWAY & SOGNEFJORD
🌊 Sognefjord🚂 Flåmsbana🌄 Stegastein
Flåm valley Norway Sognefjord Norway

The guided experience begins. Drive north through Voss with a stop at the beautiful Tvindefossen waterfall, then continue to the Stalheim panoramic terrace for sweeping valley views. The journey follows the legendary Sognefjord, Norway's longest and deepest fjord, to the Aurlandsfjord. Here you board the Flåmsbana railway, widely regarded as one of the steepest standard-gauge railways in the world. The 20km descent through mountain gorges and past thundering waterfalls is pure magic. Before dinner at the hotel, stop at the Stegastein cantilevered viewpoint, 650m above the fjord.

Day 3
🚡 LOEN SKYLIFT & JOSTEDALSBREEN
🏔️ Glacier Region🚡 1,011m Skylift💎 Nordfjord
Jostedalsbreen glacier Norway

Travel north past Fjærland toward the Jostedalsbreen glacier region, home to mainland Europe's largest glacier. Stop at the Norwegian Glacier Museum to understand 10,000 years of glacial history. The route then follows the Nordfjord with its dazzling turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, vast glaciers and steep mountains. The afternoon highlight is the Loen Skylift cable car, ascending to 1,011m in just five minutes, with jaw-dropping views of the Nordfjord and surrounding peaks below. Dinner at the hotel.

🤓 Did You Know? Jostedalsbreen is mainland Europe's largest glacier at 487 square kilometres. In summer, you can walk on the glacier's blue-ice tongues that reach down into the valleys below.
Day 4
🌊 GEIRANGERFJORD UNESCO & DALSNIBBA
🚢 Hellesylt Ferry💦 Seven Sisters🏔️ 1,500m Skywalk
Geirangerfjord Norway Norway fjord Seven Sisters waterfall

Board the ferry at Hellesylt for a 65-minute crossing of the UNESCO World Heritage Geirangerfjord, one of the most breathtaking stretches of water on Earth. The fjord's walls rise almost vertically from the water, with the legendary Seven Sisters waterfall plunging 250m in seven cascades and the Bridal Veil waterfall on the opposite bank. After docking in Geiranger village, ascend to the Dalsnibba Skywalk at 1,500m, one of Norway's highest viewpoints, for panoramic views of the fjord winding far below. Dinner at the hotel.

🤓 Did You Know? The Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord were jointly inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2005. In high summer, dozens of cruise ships anchor in Geiranger simultaneously, but our small group gets there early to beat them.
Day 5
🛣️ TROLLSTIGEN & ÅLESUND
🌀 Troll Ladder🦅 Eagle Road🏙️ Ålesund Tour
Trollstigen mountain road Norway Ålesund Norway art nouveau town

Two of Norway's most dramatic roads in one day. First, the steep Ørnevegen (Eagle Road) which zig-zags down from mountain plateau to sea level with stunning views of the Geirangerfjord. Then the famous Trollstigen (Troll Ladder), 11 hairpin bends climbing a near-vertical cliff face, one of the most visited and photographed spots in Norway. By afternoon you reach Ålesund, a coastal town so beautiful it looks like something out of a fairytale. Rebuilt entirely in art nouveau style after a devastating fire in 1904, Ålesund's distinctive turrets and spires tumble down across seven islands. Guided walking tour included.

Day 6
🌊 THE ATLANTIC OCEAN ROAD
🎣 Bud Village🌉 Atlantic Road🏝️ Kristiansund
Atlantic Ocean Road Norway Kristiansund Norway coastline

Drive north from Ålesund via ferry to Molde, passing through the historic fishing village of Bud, one of Norway's oldest trading ports. Then comes the Atlantic Ocean Road, an 8.3km causeway that hops between small islands and skerries, frequently voted the world's most beautiful road trip. The ocean crashes against the bridges from both sides. Continue to Kristiansund, a charming town built across four islands with beautiful views from its natural harbour, where a wooden-boat route called Sundbåten has connected the islands since 1876. Dinner at the hotel.

🤓 Did You Know? The Atlantic Ocean Road (Atlanterhavsveien) was voted "Norwegian Construction of the Century" in 2005. It was built during the Great Depression as a public works project, and workers faced some of the worst storms in Norwegian history during construction.
Day 7
⛪ TRONDHEIM, THE VIKING AGE CAPITAL
⛪ Nidaros Cathedral🌉 Old Town Bridge🏘️ Bakklandet
Nidaros Cathedral Trondheim Norway

Arrive in Trondheim, Norway's third-largest city and former Viking capital, founded by King Olav Tryggvason in 997 AD. The highlight is the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral, the world's northernmost medieval cathedral and the traditional coronation church of Norwegian monarchs. Built over the burial site of Saint Olav, patron saint of Norway, it has been a pilgrimage destination for a thousand years. After the guided cathedral tour, the afternoon is free to explore: stroll across the picturesque Old Town Bridge, wander through the colorful wooden houses of Bakklandet neighbourhood, or visit Ringve Museum (history of music). Numerous waterfront restaurants line the old wharf for dinner.

Day 8
🛳️ HURTIGRUTEN COASTAL CRUISE
🛳️ Board Ship🌅 Midnight Sun🌊 Fjord Inlets
Hurtigruten coastal cruise Norway

Board a Hurtigruten ship at Trondheim harbour for the legendary Norwegian Coastal Voyage, the route that has served communities along Norway's coast since 1893. Sail south through the night, passing the Hitra island archipelago and scenic fjord inlets. In July, you'll experience the extraordinary midnight sun, the sun barely touches the horizon before rising again, bathing the fjords in a warm golden light throughout the night. Your private cabin makes for a unique overnight experience on the high seas.

🤓 Did You Know? The Hurtigruten route was originally established to carry mail, passengers and cargo to remote Norwegian coastal communities. Even today, it's as much a working vessel as a tourist ship, you'll see locals boarding to visit the next town along the coast.
Day 9
⚓ SAIL INTO BERGEN · FAREWELL DINNER
🚢 Arrive Bergen🚶 Walking Tour🍽️ Farewell Dinner
Bergen Norway harbor farewell

The ship makes overnight stops at Torvik, Måløy and Florø before sailing into Bergen harbor by morning, arriving by sea to the city where the journey began, with a completely different perspective. A guided walking tour of Bergen's city centre takes you through the UNESCO-listed Bryggen wharf, the historic fish market (Fisketorget), and the funicular up to Fløyen viewpoint for panoramic city views. The afternoon is free for final shopping or café visits. The evening brings the farewell group dinner featuring local Norwegian specialties, a final gathering to celebrate 10 days of fjords, mountains, railways and memories.

Day 10
🛫 DEPARTURE FROM BERGEN
✈️ Bergen BGO🛍️ Duty-Free🏠 Homeward
Norway landscape departure

Depart from the hotel by taxi or public transport to Bergen Flesland Airport. Morning leisure time allows for final shopping, a last café visit, or just one more look at Bergen's beautiful harbor before you fly home. ★★★★★

"I have done 3 trips with OJ and each one has been incredible. Vyshakh has a way of finding the most authentic experiences in every destination, it never feels like a tourist package. The group he puts together is always the right mix of people. I've made friends on these trips that I still keep in touch with years later."

"As an adventure guide from Cape Town I was skeptical, but OJ delivered on every promise. The Meghalaya trip was one of the best I've done anywhere in the world, and I've done a lot. The attention to detail, the safety protocols, the way the group bonded. Vyshakh runs a seriously professional operation with a deeply personal touch."

"New Zealand with OJ was genuinely life-changing. The skydiving, the group bonding, the way Vyshakh manages to make every person feel included, it's special. I came as a solo traveller and left with a group of friends I'll have forever. If you're on the fence about booking an international trip with OJ, just do it."

What should you bring?
+
🧥 Layers are Everything Norwegian summer (July) can be surprisingly changeable, warm and sunny one hour, cool and rainy the next. Pack: a waterproof jacket (essential), a mid-layer fleece, comfortable walking shoes with grip, sunglasses (midnight sun is real!), and a small daypack. For the Hurtigruten cruise night, bring something warmer for standing on deck. Norway is casual, you don't need smart clothes unless you want to dress up for the farewell dinner.
I'm coming solo. Is that a problem?
+
  • Most people come alone for my trips
  • About 25% of the people bring a friend or partner
  • Honestly it really doesn't matter
  • I have seen on all the batches I have led, most people really gel with everyone, even the ones who thought they wouldn't gel up, surprise themselves always with the way they got comfortable with everyone
What are trips like with OJ?
+
Usually most batch sizes are between 12–14 people aged between 18–38. Most people come alone or with a friend. The trip would feel like you are travelling more with college friends than strangers. We tend to do more outdoorsy, experiential things than regular tours. If we find a beautiful sunset or a hidden spot, we stop the vehicle right away. We usually sleep very late because people play group games and feel they'll miss precious time with the group.
Do I need a Schengen visa to visit Norway?
+
Yes, Norway is part of the Schengen Area, so most Indian passport holders require a Schengen visa to enter. The visa is not included in the trip cost. You'll need to apply at the Norwegian Embassy / VFS Global in India. Processing typically takes 15–30 days and requires your flight tickets, hotel bookings, travel insurance, and bank statements. Once you block your slot, we'll send you a detailed visa checklist and hotel confirmation letters to support your application. Apply as early as possible, summer slots fill quickly.
Will we see the midnight sun in July?
+
Absolutely, July is prime midnight sun season in Norway. In Bergen and Western Norway (our main route), the sun sets around 11 PM and rises again before 4 AM, with only a brief twilight period in between. At this latitude the sky never goes fully dark, you'll experience that magical warm golden light at midnight from the deck of the Hurtigruten. It takes some adjustment to sleep, but it's unforgettable. Pack an eye mask if you're a sensitive sleeper!
What should I pack for Norwegian summer weather?
+
🌦️ Norway Summer Packing July temperatures in Western Norway range from 15–22°C in the fjords, cooler at high altitudes (Dalsnibba is near 0°C even in summer, bring a warm layer for that). Must-haves: waterproof rain jacket (Bergen gets rain even in summer), sturdy walking shoes with grip for mountain viewpoints, SPF sunscreen (UV is intense with the midnight sun even on cloudy days), a light fleece or jumper, and a small hiking daypack. Electronics-wise: universal power adapter (Norway uses Type C/F plugs), portable charger, and a camera with good low-light capability to capture those midnight sun moments.
