Twelve humans. Sixteen countries.
Certified trekkers, skydive instructors, writers, and humans who believe that travel should feel less like a checklist and more like a conversation with the mountains.
Ahem, Heylo Heylo. You are looking at what was once my dream: starting an adventure travel company.
I had quit my career in oil and gas to spent time in things that interests me more, in 2016.
These days I spent 60% of my time on this adventure travel startup and 40% in feeding my general curiosity about tech startups, philosophy, ethics and Russian.
I love ending up in places where I don't speak their language, places that main stream media doesn't cover and places that have a history.
My travel bucket list is full of places I had read about. It might not make sense for 95% of the people to go to those places. But for me, it completes what I have read.
"After leading trips all these years, I realised it was mostly about the people you travel with than the trip itself, that makes the trip extra ordinary. Let's together create a space for whoever our trippers want to be on our trips. We want our trippers to feel free from all the assumptions, doubts and fear."
Life is short, so am I. That's usually how I like to break the ice.
I was born and brought up in Prayagraj, in the beautiful chaos of a joint family where there was always more noise than silence, and more love than space. From an early age, I was that child who signed up for every extra-curricular possible and somewhere in that whirlpool, I discovered my true love: dancing.
Then came college, Bangalore. Funny how, as kids, we thought 'bas bade ho jaane do, life will get easier.' If only someone had told us that's when life actually begins throwing its fastballs. I did my graduation and post-graduation there, picked up some corporate jobs, and true to my perfectionist streak, I gave it my all.
And then, life changed. I lost my best friend, my father. That loss was my breaking point, and also my turning point. I came back home, not because my family needed me, but because I needed them. They'll never admit it, but honestly, I was the one seeking refuge.
After quitting corporate, I thought I'd take a break. Turns out, I'm terrible at sitting idle. And that's how travel happened to me, almost like a rebound that turned into a lifelong love. What started as just planning itineraries and chatting with strangers-turned-trippers soon spiralled into this wild, intoxicating romance with mountains, beaches, sunsets, and the unpredictable magic of the road. For someone who once hated hiking, I went ahead and did Kashmir Great Lakes. And somewhere between gasping for breath and gasping at the view, I fell in love.
Then came the solo trips. Because, let's be honest, life is too short to wait for friends who are still stuck at "bhai, dekhte hain." Trip by trip, I became unstoppable, a cocktail of wanderlust, stubbornness, and a mild addiction to sunrises and strangers who become stories.
Now my life is a balance: staying at home with family, working, traveling, and taking care of my health, which, by the way, is non-negotiable. It's not always as glamorous as it looks. I've worked on flights, on ferries, mid-hikes, and even while watching the sun sink into the sea. But would I trade this life for a 9-to-5 cubicle? Not in a million lifetimes.
Here's my one fun fact, I love life because it has this strange habit of convincing you a storm will never pass, and yet, every single time, it does.
So, if you really want to know me, I'm a 27-year-old bundle of chaos and passion, the kind who can't pick between beaches or mountains because honestly, kahi bhi le chalo. I'm persistent to the point of stubbornness, and I'll push the people around me until they believe they can reach for the stars and maybe, just maybe, catch them.
So when Vyshakh asked me, 'Tell me about yourself?' I paused. And well, now you know my answer.
Besides being a banker, a fitness freak, a full time adventure enthusiast, Neha not only loves to travel but it's been her dream to take people on different adventures.
Primarily working as an AVP, she always finds a way for her passion for authentic and raw travels. It's in a way infectious how she's often found exploring about the different cultures, making food with the local families or playing with the kids around. This is what sets her apart.
Be it a trek like KGL or dancing with the Nagas in Hornbill or surfing in Mulki or skiing in -10 degrees you will never find Neha low on energy. She is always in her element looking for new things to learn.
Neha says "it's not always about the locations and destinations but also about the experiences we share and the people we meet along the way. This is what gives our trips and in turn life a different meaning."
Rachit's love affair with the outdoors began in 2013 when he went for a soul-stirring trek in the Himalayas. That one trip was enough to flip his life upside down (in a good way), and he's been chasing adrenaline and sunsets ever since.
From trekking through unforgiving trails to conquering the skies with a certified AFF solo skydive, this guy doesn't just dabble in adventure , he dives in headfirst, quite literally (ask him about his scuba stories). Oh, and skiing? He's your guy if you need someone to make falling on snow look graceful.
When Rachit isn't busy helping people step out of their comfort zones and into the wild, he's back in the corporate world, balancing spreadsheets with the same determination he brings to rugged trails. He's living proof that you can have a 9-to-5 and live like a weekend warrior.
With Rachit, every trip comes with stories, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos , because who wants boring when you can have an unforgettable adventure?
The greatest part of being a Trip Leader is to enable people to enter my backpacker world, sharing the philosophy of being a nomad and giving them the most beautiful part of it.
You're sometimes rude with yourself while travelling solo, but in a group you always care as every person belong to your family , and they end up being part of it. India gave me the craziest experience of my backpacking tour and it's now a duty to give back everything I took from it.
As I'm an avid birdwatcher, I have a particular sense for every small detail you would have passed by. Details are what make your trip truly unique and unforgettable.
The greatest part of being a Trip Leader is gaining new perspectives on life, which serves as a reminder of how fortunate we are to be surrounded by people who genuinely see and hear us.
Every adventure that I head to always centers me while giving me the energy spike I constantly look for. It is my thrill, my chill and my deep. I have been fortunate to never having experienced an unexpected setback big enough to have it in my memory. I hope it stays that way.
Every trip fuels me with more of everything , energy, friends, memories and a longing to go back to the place I have come back from. I literally fall in love with every place I take a trip to. It infuses a lot of positivity, energy and helps me with evolve as a person. Adventure humbles me , embracing uncertainty, adapting to nature, learning from setbacks, and connecting with diverse people. Each experience deepens my perspective, making life more fulfilling.
Apart from an over-thinker, I am a creator, literature student, writer and dancer. There is nothing more joyful for me than creating content that welcomes people to experience never-felt-before experiences.
When I am not surrounded by mountains or tied to materialistic duties, you can find me staring at the city-mountains from my window 🙂
They say don't mix friendship and business. But we don't know any other way to run this company. Laxman is friends with Vyshakh since last 15 years and makes a perfect addition to the Team OJ.
Laxman is a water baby, could have lived very close to the water in his previous life. His mother would say, put him in any ocean, any river in the world and she isn't worried at all.
Primarily working as a marketing head, Laxman has been leading private batches of OJ since January 2022 and from July 2022, he decided to channel all his efforts working with team OJ.
He loves being outdoors more than anyone else in our team and is truly in his element when hiking in the mountains & swimming with the fishes.
So if you are looking for a mountain guide to embrace your wild side, then with Laxman, you will have a hell of a ride.
Vishnu is a passionate outdoor instructor, certified mountaineer, backpacker, and rock climber who lives for adventure.
As a Backpacking Supervisor at Avid 4 Adventure in Colorado, he taught both kids and adults how to feel at home in the wilderness. From "Leave No Trace" principles to packing a backpack, reading maps, understanding trail rules, spotting stars, crossing rivers, and cooking in the wild , Vishnu made sure everyone learned how to be safe, independent, and respectful in nature.
Vishnu believes that time outdoors has a way of transforming people. After just a few days in the wild, he saw kids and adults return with more confidence, stronger teamwork skills, and a new appreciation for the simple things in life. They became more caring toward each other and the world around them. Vishnu's mission is to inspire more people to get outside, reconnect with nature, and experience the magic of the outdoors. For him, backpacking isn't just an activity , it's a way to rediscover a life that's real, grounded, and filled with wonder.
You would find Judson on most Sundays in the church, most Saturdays driving around people of his area for random things we will never imagine.
In the night, you will find him either finishing off all the most prominent tasks of Team OJ. Without him, you wouldn't find these beautifully designed website and itineraries.
If someone would want to know all the inner workings of how this brand works, they can just kidnap Judson (Ofcourse along with his laptop).
In January 2023, we introduced HVFC across a few trips. HVFC stands for History, Volunteering, Food and Culture. We're bringing these aspects to every trip , because if you go back home without doing any of them, have you really been to that place?
