Day 1

REACH KATHMANDU

📍 Kathmandu · 🏨 Hotel
Everest Base Camp, Day 1: REACH KATHMANDU

Upon arrival in Kathmandu-Take cab from Airport and reach booked hotel in Kathmandu City. Enjoy local cuisine in the evening and do trek gears shopping or any last minute purchase from this place.

Attend briefing session in the evening –know about do's and dont's of trekking . If you have any questions then it's good time to get all the answers.

Day 2

TREK TO PHAKDING

✈️ Lukla → Phakding · 🏘️ Teahouse
Everest Base Camp, Day 2: TREK TO PHAKDING

Early morning next day, you would have a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. You should keep your pen- knifes, lighter, matchboxes and other related stuff in the bigger baggage than in your hand-bag to avoid any security breach and unnecessary delay. The planes are generally small for these flights but the journey is panoramic. You will have some time to see Lukla and enjoy its beauty. Your trekking in Nepal would begin after a 30 min halt at Lukla.

The walk from Lukla to Phakding is gradual and has few ups and downs on the way. You would have a superb view of Kusum-Kangru, while you are crossing the short suspension bridge on your way. After a short climb, you would reach the Ghat village and another one and a half hours of gradual walk brings you to Phakding village.

DID YOU KNOW? Trek to Everest Base camp usually starts from the Lukla airport which is one of the most extreme and adventurous airports in the world
Day 3

PHAKDING TO NAMCHE

From Phakding, after crossing the Dudh-koshi suspension bridge, the walk is easy and pleasant with short uphill and down-hill climb. You would be re-crossing the same river again. You would have a magnificient view of Thermasarkhu which is 6,608 meters from the village of Benkar. Now you would cross the long suspension bridge over the Bhote- Koshi River. This is a busy area and is full of trekkers and porters. After here you would finally arrive to the small river of Monjo, after a climb of 20 minutes from this area. Here, you can see some interesting water mills which are used for grinding corns and barley. It is one of the major staple diet of the Sherpas. Monjo is situated below the magnificent peak of Thermasharkhu. Close to this you have the entrance to the Sagarmatha national park. At this point, your trekking permit is checked and the officials keep a record of all the trekkers going ahead. After a gradual walk you would reach Namche bazaar.

Day 4

NAMCHE TO KYANGJUMA

📍 Kyangjuma · 🏠 Amadablam View Lodge

This is a short day. We sometimes take a day break at Namche for Acclimatisation, but if everyone in the group is doing well in terms of their SPo2 reading, we will not take the break day in Namche Bazaar and continue to KYANGJUMA which is just 2 hours of an easy walk from Namche.

The owner the property we regularly stay is super sweet and cool. She runs regular donations to nearby villagers, owns a small business in US, has a huge prayer hall which radiates some another level energy and provides the warmest vibe that you will take back with you even when you are back home from EBC. Her lodge name is called Amadablam view, for obvious reasons. Duh.

Day 5

KYANGJUMA TO PANGBOCHE

📍 Pangboche 3,985m · ⛰️ Tengboche Monastery
Everest Base Camp, Day 5: KYANGJUMA TO PANGBOCHE

Today is a long day that takes you through a jungle trail initially for first hour and then you will start gaining altitude for about next 2 hours to reach the Tengboche Monastry. After a short visit we continue our trek to Pangboche. From monastery, it's mostly a hike down till our next guesthouse. The monastery mostly stays shut, so if you are lucky you can pay a visit inside.

Day 6

This is a new addition we did last year. This is completely optional but hey, You are with the orange jacket. We gotta do things that our heart says right. Let's do a day hike to Amadablam base camp

DID YOU KNOW? Evidently, Every year more than 1 lakh trekkers trek to the Everest base camp.
Day 7

PANGBOCHE TO LOBUCHE

Periche is one of my favourite stop over in this trek for it shows the magnitude of Amadablam from top to bottom. It is also not very frequently many trekkers stop here which makes it an ideal heaven for people who don't want to be around a lot of crowd. We will stop here for lunch and enjoy the rest of the day. You would have a pleasant walk for the next one and a half to two hours from Pheriche till you reach the small wooded bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier. This place is called Thugla and is the only place which has tea- houses before Lobuche. From here another 3 hours of strenuous trekking time brings you to Lobuche which lies at one corner of the hill. The overnight stay would be in guest houses. Expect to reach late to the guesthouse today ( 7ish ).

Day 8

LOBUCHE TO GORAKSHEP, KALA PATHAR FOR SUNSET

Today will be an exciting day for you as you are very close to your final destination. Today you will have an adventurous journey and a great trekking experience. The first walk of an hour is gradual up to the valley and leads to a grassy field. A walk of nearly 20 minutes takes you to the rocky moraine dunes. As you go ahead on your journey you can see the icy- glacial ponds and icebergs which lie below the Khumbu glacier. After a few more rocky moraine dunes and a gradual downhill walk, you reach Gorakshep. In the evening, we will climb the Kalapathar ( 5550M ) . The beauty today will make you cry, Well almost.

Day 9

EBC EXCURSION, GORAKSHEP TO PHERICHE

⛰️ EBC 5,364m · ⬇️ Pheriche
Everest Base Camp, Day 9: EBC EXCURSION, GORAKSHEP TO PHERICHE

After you have trekked to the EBC and returned back to Gorakshep, we will trace our way back to PHERICHE. Today is a long day, one of the longest in our trek. So download some great podcasts and some music for this day. For most people the trek ends today, as we will be taking a Heli back to Lukla next day . For people, who are trekking back to Lukla, the itinerary continues. If you ask me, i would recommend to take the Heli only because its actually a decent deal we have got and you get to save a lot of time. But if you like to walk it all out, Of course we will have our local guide with you through out the hike till Lukla.

DID YOU KNOW? Surprisingly, You can enjoy the high-speed internet at the Everest base camp.
Day 10

TAKE THE HELI BACK TO LUKLA

Heli ride back to Lukla, the recommended option that saves 3 days of descent and gives you one of the most spectacular flights of your life over the Khumbu valley.

Day 11

BUFFER DAY

🌦️ Weather Buffer · 📍 Lukla

We need to keep 1 day buffer so that in case there is any delay in our plan due bad weather .

Day 12

LUKLA TO KATHMANDU

✈️ Lukla → Kathmandu · 🏨 Hotel

On this day you would have to wake up early as the flights to Kathmandu are generally scheduled in the morning. This is because during daytime, the weather is generally windy and there might be a delay in the flight timings. However you expect a slight delay in you early morning flight as well if the weather is not suitable. As you make your way through the security checks and your flight takes off from Lukla airport, you would have a magnanimous view of the surrounding. Drive back to Kathmandu airport from Ramechhap Airport and overnight stay in Hotel.

DID YOU KNOW? Actually, Everest Base camp is inside the Sagarmatha national park which is on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites.

"It was my first solo trip. Took me 10 days to gather courage to book tickets. When I meet everyone, I realised I was worrying about nothing. Everyone was so jolly. All of us instantly clicked as a group and started teasing and making fun of each other. The trip leader Laxman was my friendly nemesis. We even gave nicknames to each other, I was Zodiac and he was assistant to the mayor. I didn't think I would bond with people, but when the trip ended I had at least one small memory to remember each and everyone by. Couldn't have asked for a better group than this for my first trip. Thanks to orange jacket for this wonderful experience."

"I have always counted Vyshakh amongst my dearest friends for the last five years. So when I made up my mind to challenge myself and go on a high altitude trek for the first time, there was no one I trusted more. As a trip leader, Vyshakh is completely dependable, will take care of the minutest details and lead from the front. He thinks on his feet and will motivate you to push harder and discover strengths you never knew existed. Being a high altitude trek, most of us did face minor symptoms of mountain sickness, but Vyshakh personally took care of everyone. All other arrangements like accommodation, food etc were superb. The experience was indeed incredible!"

I am coming solo. Is that a problem?

+

Most people come alone for my trips. About 25% of the people bring a friend or partner. Honestly it really doesn't matter. I have seen on all the batches I have lead. Most people really gel with everyone, even the ones who thought wouldn't gel up, surprise themselves always with the way they got comfortable with everyone.

Your itinerary looks difficult for me. Can I do it?

+
Each trek or trip is rated according to the number of days we spend outdoors. If you aren't sure where to start, go with an easy trip or trek.

I dreamed of trips where we could go out, hike, get exhausted, come back to the hotel, and have a great evening. This is exactly why some of my trips have day hikes in them. It is a perfect chance for people who have never hiked in their entire life. Don't worry, we are there :).

You can start with Sandakphu or Chandrashila. You can also benchmark yourself for the treks:
  • If you can run for 30 mins and cover around 3 to 3.5 km, you can go ahead with an easy trek
  • If you can run for 30 mins and cover around 3.5 to 4 km, you can go ahead with a moderate trek
  • If you can run for 30 mins and cover around 4 to 5 km, you can go ahead with a difficult trek
If you have never done a high altitude trek, start with an easy or easy-moderate trek. That way you will understand how your body reacts to high altitude and you can check your cardio strength too.

What are trips like?

+

Usually, most batch sizes are between 12 to 20 people who are aged between 16 to 38. Most people come alone or with a friend. The trip would feel like you are travelling more with college friends than strangers. We tend to do more outdoorsy things than regular trips.

For example: If we find a very pretty waterfall, a beautiful sunset, or a rainbow on the way, we would stop the vehicle right away to catch the beauty of it.

We usually sleep very late on these trips as we play a lot of group games and most people feel they will miss the precious time with the group members and decide to stay awake.
