Best Time to Visit
Italy for Indians has the same problem as Spain plus worse: peak Indian travel windows (July to August school holidays, December honeymoon season) overlap exactly with the worst months. The actual sweet spot is April or May for spring (perfect weather, low crowds in Tuscany, accessible Amalfi), or September to October for autumn (post-summer crowds, harvest season, ideal Roman temperatures). August in Italy is when locals leave and tourists endure.

Yes, by about 20 to 30 percent. Italian hotels (especially in Rome, Venice, Florence) command premium pricing. Restaurant prices in tourist zones are higher than Spain. The flights cost similar. Total 10-day Italy trip from India is INR 3L to 4.5L vs INR 2.5L to 3.5L for Spain. Italy compensates with deeper food culture and more iconic landmarks.
Yes if possible. August Italy is brutal: 30 plus C in Rome and Florence, peak European holiday crowds (every Mediterranean tourist is in Italy), most local Italian businesses closed (Italians take August off), and 30 to 50 percent price premiums. The combination of heat, crowds, and reduced local life makes August the worst month for first-time Italy visitors. April, May, September, October are dramatically better.
Rome plus one. Rome is the unmissable core (Colosseum, Vatican, Pantheon, food culture). Pair with Venice (canal experience, completely unique), Florence (Renaissance art capital), or Amalfi (coastal beauty). 7-day trip: Rome plus Florence. 10-day trip: Rome plus Florence plus Venice. 14-day trip: add Amalfi or Tuscany region. Skip Milan unless you have specific reasons; Milan is the modern fashion city, less classical Italy.
Minimum 10 days. Below 10 days the flight time eats your trip. 12 days is ideal for Rome plus Florence plus Venice. 14 days adds Tuscany or Amalfi. Less than 10 days: pick one region only (just Rome plus Vatican, or just Tuscany).
