Best Time to Visit Morocco From India

Morocco has two perfect seasons: spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November). The country has microclimates: Atlas Mountains cold in winter, Sahara unbearable in summer, coastal cities warm year-round. The standard Marrakech plus Sahara plus Chefchaouen circuit is only really workable in spring and autumn. July and August in the Sahara is genuinely dangerous.

Frequently asked

Is Morocco visa-free for Indians?

Yes, since 2018. Indian passport holders can visit Morocco visa-free for 90 days. Stamp on arrival at Casablanca or Marrakech airports. No advance application needed. Morocco is now one of the easiest African countries for Indians to visit, alongside Mauritius and Seychelles.

What is the best month for the Sahara experience?

October or April. The Sahara is the centerpiece of most Morocco trips (overnight in a desert camp at Erg Chebbi). October has warm days (28C), cool nights (12C), and clear skies for star-gazing. April has similar conditions. Avoid June to September entirely; the Sahara in midsummer hits 45 plus C, becomes dangerous, and most camp operators close.

Is Morocco safe for Indian travellers?

Yes. Morocco is one of the safest North African countries. Violent crime against tourists is rare. The actual risks are practical (medina hassling in Marrakech and Fes, scam tourists in Tangier, overpriced taxis). With operator structure these are easily managed. See the Morocco safety page for full details.

Is it worth doing Morocco solo or should I book a group?

Either works. Solo travel to Morocco is doable and popular (the country has well-established backpacker infrastructure). Group trips are popular for: Sahara overnight camp logistics, Fes medina navigation (genuinely confusing), and the comfort of vetted hotels. Most first-time Morocco travellers from India choose a group; second-time travellers go solo.

What does the OJ Morocco trip include?

10 days in October. Covers Casablanca arrival, Marrakech (Jemaa el-Fnaa, Majorelle Garden, Bahia Palace), Atlas Mountains transit, 2-night Sahara overnight at Erg Chebbi with camel ride, Fes medina with local guide, Chefchaouen blue city, and Casablanca departure. Trip cost is around INR 1.85L per person including flights from Bangalore. Group capped at 14.
