Spain Visa for Indians
Spain uses the Schengen tourist visa. Indians apply through VFS Spain. 15 working days, INR 5,800 plus VFS service fee. The catch: timing the application within 30 to 90 days of departure.

The actual process, step by step
Book VFS Spain appointment online (vfsglobal.com). Submit application 30 to 90 days before departure. Biometrics at VFS. Decision in 15 working days, often 7 to 10. Pickup the passport from VFS or doorstep delivery for INR 800 extra. On OJ trips to Spain the visa is not included in the trip price.
Common pitfalls (and how to avoid them)
Not booking refundable flights / hotels for the visa application
Use HoldMyBooking or similar to generate non-paid hotel and flight confirmations. Cancel after visa is approved.
Insurance with less than EUR 30,000 medical coverage
Schengen requires EUR 30,000 minimum medical evacuation. Bajaj, ICICI Lombard, Tata AIG all offer this.

Check the latest policy. Some destinations have shifted from VOA to eVisa or vice versa since 2024, so confirm on the official portal before you book flights.
What if my Spain visa is rejected?

Is travel insurance mandatory for the Spain visa?
