Spain. The wine regions, the slower pace, the boutique hotels in Andalusia, and the food culture make it more romantic. Vietnam is incredible but the adventure energy works against couple-time.
Vietnam, by a wide margin. A comparable 10 day Vietnam trip costs less than half what a Spain trip costs. The flight alone is a third of the price. Vietnam wins on cost no contest.
Both are safe. Spain has higher rates of pickpocketing in Barcelona old town and tourist zones. Vietnam has effectively zero violent crime against tourists, lower scam rates than Thailand. Both score equally well for solo female travellers.
Vietnam, for vegetarians and spice-lovers. Vegetarian options exist on every menu, the food is fresh and warm-spiced, and the price-quality ratio is exceptional. Spain has incredible food but vegetarian options outside major cities are limited.
OJ runs Spain in August timed around La Tomatina (10 days, INR 2.5L). OJ runs Vietnam plus Cambodia as a 12-day adventure trip (INR 1.2L). Spain is the cultural lifetime trip; Vietnam is the value adventure trip. Different vibes, different travellers.
